I'm a 72 year old J R Rain fan. It started with an offer to purchase the Body Departed, which I found to be different but most interesting. I moved on to The Lost Ark, which I loved, The Grail Quest, which I wasn't as crazy about, and then Judas Silver. I loved this book. It was a most interesting take on what happened to the 30 pieces of silver given as the price for Christ. It held my interest through all of the travels of the pieces of silver. And the end left you wondering if there is a follow-up. For someone who wants to read entertaining books, J R Rain is your man. I have now read all 9 of the Vampire for Hire books plus the short story collection, and all of the books about his three male detectives. They are all good, entertaining reads.Product details

Many of these e book authors are selling a short story as a book. This book(?) Was well written but plot, story development and conclusion were more like a short story .
As usual, J.R. has written a wild and wooly story. Lots of gritty characters, all with an agenda of their own. Fast action, along with a splash of humor.
It was written very amateurishly. The story "tells" the reader everything instead of letting the reader experience it. The dialogue between the characters was very cliche and predictable. The reviews sounded promising but I was disappointed. Sorry, I know it is hard work to write a story.
Once again I have found a good book in this story. I found it hard to put it down until the end.
I liked most of his books which is why I read this though I've read quite a few about Judas& of course his 30 pieces of silver. Not a bad telling of so many stories on Judas' silver & an interesting twist to the usual biblical references.
I really enjoyed reading this screenplay.. and yes I got that it was a screenplay right away... it says so on the product page.
It's a little Indiana Jones and a whole lot of fun. I was completely able to visualize the scenes as they were described and experienced "edge-of-my-seat" moments along the way. The interesting thing I found, was that I could envision this with expert direction and special effects to create an incredible block buster. Yet, at the very same time, I could see it as a campy, home-made film that poked fun at bad acting and pulled in a cult following on YouTube. *grin*
In fact, my son and I had a great hour discussing all the ways to make into that campy fun film that jumped from live action to claymation, toy boats, strings on the spinning silver and other fun bits.

I got this book on a free book alert. I was familiar with the author as I had read several books in the "Vampire for Hire" series. I figured since I enjoyed those books so much, I would enjoy this as well. It wasn't that this book was not good; it was just not great! It felt like it was wrapped up too neat and pretty and was way too predictable.
